Antinuclear Factors

Guideline
  1. Found non-specifically in many autoimmume diseases including RA, scleroderma and myositis.
  2. Levels > 1/160 may indicate some autoimmune process. If clinical features suggest SLE then investigate further with DNA antibody profile.
Extractable Nuclear Antigens (ENA)
  • Sm: SLE
  • Ro/La: SLE, Sjogrens syndrome
  • Nuclear rnp (high): MCTD
  • Scl 70: progressive systemic sclerosis
  • Centromere: CREST
  • Ribosomal ANA: RA, RA+Sjogren's
